For extra security, our Full Damage Waiver (FDW) reduces your liability and eliminates excess on most coverages. It includes:

If an accident occurs, the renter must immediately contact Venus Car Rental Crete for instructions on handling the situation. It is strictly prohibited to leave the accident scene without reporting the incident.

Failure to provide an accident or damage report will result in the renter being fully responsible for all repair costs. However, with a properly documented report, liability is waived, ensuring full compliance with our car rental insurance policy.

When Insurance Coverage Does NOT Apply

While we offer comprehensive protection, insurance is valid only if the renter follows all terms & conditions.Insurance  If the renter misuses the vehicle, they will be fully responsible for repair costs, regardless of their insurance plan.

1️⃣ Traffic Violations & Reckless Driving

Insurance does not cover damages if the renter:

• Ignores Greek traffic laws, including STOP signs, red lights, speed limits, U-turns, and illegal overtaking.
• Drives under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

2️⃣ Off-Road & Unauthorized Driving

The vehicle must be driven on asphalt roads only. Insurance does not apply if the car is:

• Driven on non-asphalt roads, dirt paths, or off-road locations (e.g., Balos Beach)
• Used for unauthorized travel outside Crete.
• Stuck in sand, mud, or rocky terrain, requiring recovery services.

3️⃣ Unauthorized Drivers & Rental Violations

The vehicle must be driven by registered drivers only. Insurance does not cover damages if:

• The car is operated by an unregistered driver.
• The driver does not have a valid driver’s license.
• The rental period has expired without an official extension.

4️⃣ Intentional or Reckless Damage

Insurance does not cover damages caused by negligence, including:
✔️ Burning out the clutch due to improper use.
✔️ Sitting, standing, or placing heavy objects on the car’s bonnet, boot, or roof.
✔️ Damaging the interior through carelessness.

5️⃣ Interior Damage – Not Covered by Insurance

Insurance does NOT cover damage to the interior of the rental car. The renter will be fully responsible for:
✔ Burnt or torn seats (e.g., cigarette burns, ripped upholstery).
✔ Damaged or missing accessories.
✔ Cracked, scratched, or broken internal parts.

6️⃣ Neglecting Parking & Security

The renter must take precautions for secure parking. Insurance does not cover damages if:

• The car is left unlocked or unattended in an unsafe area.
• The renter fails to properly secure the vehicle, resulting in theft or vandalism.

7️⃣ Commercial or Competitive Use

Insurance is voided if the vehicle is:

• Used in races, speed tests, rallies, or contests.
• Operated for taxi, ride-sharing, or courier services.

The excess amounts with FDW coverage are as follows:

•Category A, B, B1: 300€ 

•Category C, C1: 400€ 

•Category D, D1, D2: 500€ 

•Category L, M, E1: 700€ 

•Category G, H: 900€
